Still raw at the moment. It will be heat treated and blued soon. Then, if Duane can see well enough to mail it with his detached retinas from regulating the irons, it will be in my hands.

Wow, that is beautiful. And in a great chambering too.

It's not the caliber of the rifle that matters - It's the caliber of the man behind it.

Here's a recent project using an FZH action. Rifle is shown here prior to heat treatment. The bottom metal was bent just in back of the floorplate to reduce the depth at the trigger, making a more normal grip configuration. The original bolt was cut off, shortened slightly and welded to allow use of scope.

Finally, extended tangs top and bottom. Claw mount lock up is built into the square bridge, front square ring eliminated, front foot installed on quarter rib. Original bottom metal was then modified to allow an extra round.

The barrel is a Kreiger, ordered with a 1.5" diameter at the breech end to give me material to configure an integral quarter rib and recoil lug. Swivel eye and front are soldered on.

The excellent wood was furnished by Roger Vardy and magnificent engraving by Roger Kehr. I hope Roger will contribute close up's of his work.

This full length image shows the whole project.

Second page needed photo's.

Duane, I really like the location of the front sling swivel….far from the hand. Also, I really like the shallow rear sight, it's my favorite, and I'll call it quick. Less wobble room.

Roger, The engraving is very nice. Give your self a pat on the back.

The wood has nice colors.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to share. Your rifles are fantastic.
