Get many inquiries about Wiebe accessories. I sold that part a while back and for whatever reason, t he gentleman is content to have the CNC machine, tooling and even bar stock serve well as a door stop. I'm disappointed as hell, but I have no influence or suggestions. I don't see a lot of enthusiam on Swift's part, hope Andy will pick up the slack. But ...the client will have to belly up to at least a 3X price incurase to make it worthwhile for a mfg. on any scale to euen turn on the lights.

Duane You might want to think about changing coffee brands buddy. My point was in agreement with your post about after-market parts, any NEW parts are going to be costly in runs of less than 250 units as a nice round # Let's see! If we wanted to cover a spectrum of 98 magazines fit to 98 receivers that the team on AR "MIGHT WANT" and write threads about all the time as a dream rifle build, we could randomly pick the following 7x57 30/06 300 Win 375 H&H 416 Rigby 404 Jeff 500 Jeff 505 Gibbs These all require different OD and ID specs regardless of what this peanut gallery says to the contrary, Can anyone tell me how many mag assemblies Mauser offered in their prime NO !!!!! then F---KING look it up The Pre-64 Model-70 ?????? any guesses So why spend $200 to $800 a unit on a compromise design again on the premise that one box fits all ? Rightfully so you'd want the correct Mag Box, But again at what or who's expense ? After market manufacturing is expensive to be sure, The following of patrons is not a big numbers game but God bless those that try to support us in the this wacky endeavor we call a profession. Anyone pull up a Recknagel (sp ?) catalog lately online ? parts by the thousands, now they need to be imported and that's going to cost as well. NECG has a huge line from them to offer, Support them anytime you can. Duanes Magazine idea had great legs but never got off the ground. A bummer for sure but at least he tried damnit !!!!!! Sony is not making 6 TV's at a time, The I-phone is not built in a garage over the weekends, But folks will gladly lay down the tin for a giant flat screen or an I-phone. I have gladly laid down the money as I'm sure I couldn't get it right if I tried to build one on my kitchen table over the holidays This is in no means a rant, believe me you'll know it when it is a rant. Rather one guys opinion, stating the obvious from the gunsmith side of the bench. Life as a rule can get expensive at times, if you want better than average kit then deal with it.

Ha...didn't know which sentence was the focal point. I had tried to offer the idea of making a couple Mauser frames and then using proper sheet metal boxes along the lines of Brno, M-70, Enfield Did not get one single affermative response! Should have just done it and "My way or the Highway" ..and sure would have simplified overseas delivery When asked to build some foolish bottom metal, I offered to do 30 units, half down and the rest now.."You sell off the other 29" Guess where that went? I found running a CNC and makkng rifles at the same time...hell, might as well hold down two full time jobs! And... Finding reliable help wsas an impossisble dream The man who purchased that part seemed like an ideal fit ...Solid CNC background, retired, smart and appeared enthusiastic. So...yes, very disdappointing and now I have to scramble along with the rest to obtain aftermarket parts. In many ways, wish I'd not sold the that part of the business..Once in a while, I'm tempted to jump back in

There is no money in it at these low demand rates if you have to pay US wages. Have them made in India. They will hand forge and file them out for you.

Ddubya. No one else said it, so I will .... the guy who bought the bottom metal (etc.) biz from you should be ashamed for essentially dumping the brand right into a nice hole instead of 'continuing' the brand as promised. Too bad no contract specifying the same was signed. A damn shame. But, I guess hindsight is 100%. I may just send the S.O.B. an email. custombolt

Custom Bolt: I relly appreciate your thought and support.. I will leave it to others to seek some "Holy Grail" status. Just not my nature. Acheiving what I did was Ok by me, there was a demand and a healthy backlog, but as I've said, just did not have the fire in the belly to hold down two full jobs at the same tim My goal was to see quality accessories available for the demanding clent and I thought the man who took over would "carry on" Didn't give a flip what he called the products. And,,Oh! My cioffee is just fine

Did he personally rig/move the machine or have it professionally done? http://www.facebook.com/profil...p?id=100001646464847 A.M. Little Bespoke Gunmakers LLC 682-554-0044 Michael08TDK@yahoo.com

Who knows what has happened? DW said the man is retired. Maybe his wife got sick, or worse? Maybe he got sick or worse? Again, who knows "why"? Could be any number of legit reasons "why". He bought it, he paid for it, he can do as he pleases with it. Sad to see DWs' work and efforts go away, but he sold those to an American, and he (the buyer) can still decide for himself what he wants to do. Maybe it will come up for sale again, and one of you can buy it and start "making", again.

Ddubya, I didn't realize that you have no concerns about the name brand being continued. Hope he is healthy anyway. Coffee is fine? Went right over my head >>>>>>. Meant for someone else? Anyway, I saw no reason to get nasty with him before the facts were known. Just sent him an email yesterday asking if he could advise me on his intentions since it's been a couple years and if it is or may be for sale? CB

In the past when I needed a pre-inletted stock, I'd send Ed Shulin a blank and have him cut it. Ed retired and sold his duplicator and patterns to one of his former students. Ed passed on the info, the guys name and phone number, and I had him cut a couple for me. When I needed another, I called and e-mailed. No answer and no response to my e-mail. I don't know what had happened to him. I know he had some knee problems and had had surgey on his knees, but I know no more than that. Ed had great patterns and did fantastic work. I was always satisfied with the stocks his (Eds') former student cut for me, although they were not as refinded as Eds' were. I don't have a clue what happened. DWs' bottom metal isn't the only desirable "thing" that has just suddenly 'disappeared'. Unfortunately, things like that happen every day, and not just in the gun world.
