Original gun.

Walnut blank.

Looking quite good Smiler

They make into some real nice, lightweight and handy rifles.
Here is my 30-06 that was done up with FN bottom metal in the style of an early Oberndorf type A by Steve Berg

I'm not familiar with the Husqvarna 1900. Is that a trigger safety, or does it block the firing pin/striker as well?

Beautiful craftsmanship!

The Husqvarna action is basically a M-96 small ring action with a few mods like the safety and a small, thin ejector- bolt stop that comes up from the bottom rather than being cut through the left lug.
That is really the only real weak area of the action.

The Husquarna 1900 action, has nothing to do with old Mauserdesigns. It is a werry well designed and wellmade, modern design, with 2 frontlugs, werry strong and massive, with a Unique semi "dovetail" shape, that results in an outstanding smoothness when cyckeling the bolt.
Allmost nothing comes close.
Personally i really love that action. And almost envy the designers.

The action 458 is talking about is the 1600 model, basically a evolution of the m98/96

Husqvarna produced the 8000 and 9000 rifle which became the Carl Gustaf rifle. Antonio Zoli picked up the tooling after CG and now produce the rifle known as the 1900 action. vovapen.com make their bespoke rifles from this action. They really are one of the slickest actions ever produced.

Very nice makeover.

Can you tell us more about the bottom metal you used?

Who makes it, is it steel ?

The originals were aluminum alloy or at least it is on mine.

I have one and it is one of the three smoothest rifles I have ever had my hands on. The other two being the Voere from Germany with a three lug bolt and s Sauer. Mine is in 25-06 and it is the first rifle I ever bought for myself. I got it at Ramstein Germany in the mid 70s. It is very light for a long action and has nice wood but not like the one pictured. That is a thing of beauty.

Thanks JFE Smiler
As you say, the original ís made of aluminum and it's engraved (anyway those sold in Sweden) and I did not want to use that bottom metal when customizing the rifle, so I asked the gunsmith what to do and he proposed that he should take a bottom metal from a Husqvarna 1640 (M98) made of steel and mill away the original button for the floor plate and make a new one. I Think he did a splendid job.

Bottom metal from a Husqvarna 1640, original.

Bottom metal, customized for the 1900.

Thanks for your reply. Your gunsmith has done a great job.

Would it be possible to get a picture of what your gunsmith has done to the bottom metal?

That is a wonderful looking stock and I would sure would like one similar to it for my left handed Carl Gustaf action. Does anybody know of a source for a pre inletted stock for my action?

Hjoggbole: nice solution on the bottom metal!
Army Aviator:Besides two CG/Husqvarnas, I too have a German Voere Shikar, regretably sold my S&L 65,and have a 30 Newton, and may have another CG on the way.
Kestrel:I can duplicate your old stock if you so desire.

Do the 8000 and 9000 models have different bolt shrouds? There is currently on Gunbroker a rifle described as a Husqvarna 8000. It has a very different bolt shroud than the OP's 1900, though there are similarities.

The 8000 and 9000 have the same shroud. 8000 has a jewelled bolt. Google Antonio Zoli, click on the Italian language and you will see the 1900 model which is the Carl Gustaf 8000 and 9000 action. What I see on gunbroker is the model 96 or 38 CG military rifle. I do not know what they are refering to by calling it a 1900. These are completely different actions.

My mistake - it is a Model 6000 on Gunbroker, not 8000.
