i was wandering if glass bedding a synthetic stock is any different then doing a wood stock and does it add much weight

Its basicly the same but some synthetic materials are hard to get the bedding compound to stick. Most have to be cleaned with acetone or some other solvent and roughed up for the epoxy to adhere. I've even had to put little screws in the synthetic materal on some stocks to be sure bedding would hold.
