Any pictures of barrel mounted (versus front receiver) mounted front scope rings would be appreciated. Assume most are sweated on saddles?

Perfect! Did the parts come from NECG?

I bought the rifle from Champlin Firearms. It came without a scope or rings. I sent the rifle back to Champlin Firearms with the scope and had JJ Perodeau install the scope with new rings. I don't know where he got the rings.

Here's an example of a pivot mount with the front ring mounted over the barrel:

I prefer the claw mounts to all others, they seem to return to zero much better than Americamn made mounting systems.

That one is spectacular.

I was thinking about the same thing. That's the way the front ring is mounted on my single shot as well. I think it's the way to get the best of both worlds, irons and optics.

front ring on the quarter rib is a neat option and the one I had on my custom Win. 63 with a 2.5X Leupold Alaskan. it was classic.

On my recent build that's all but completed, I opted for a barrel band front sight, barrel band swivel, no barrel mounted rear sight or quarter rib, chose to use the QD Talley Rings and bases and the QD Talley quick detachable peep sight that slides on the rear base, its clean and very suitable for a hunting rifle. I will keep the peep in the grip or the steel butt plate.

What are your thoughts about the claw mounts that are dovetailed directly into the barrel? I had some pics in the Jon Speed Mauser book. I also found this on the web.

Thoughts? This was a traditional Mauser factory option.
