My Custom Australian made 458Mag and 9.3x62 are ready for this years Safari.
The 9.3 is fitted with Recknagel QD mounts and a steel Schmidt & Bender 4x36 scope.

Testing them out;

Both rifles have flip up Ivory night sight that has been used extensively.

A few photos whilst at the "Smiths" workshop;

Well, from my point of view, the only thing wrong with those rifles is that they have only one barrel. thumbdown

BUT, if you must use a single barreled, crank and yank rifle, those two look pretty good. tu2

As to your calibre choice, I have used a 9,3x74R double and a 450 No2 double rifle on all 3 of my Safaris, [I did use a 450/400 3 1/4" for some game on my last trip with the wife as well], so your choice of the 9,3x62 and the 458 seems Most Excellent to me...

Very nice looking rifles.

Well those are just fantastic. OZ, could we get some more details? I'd be curious to know what actions (FN, K98, 1909, etc.) they are built on and who did the stock work?

I've got a 9.3x62 at the smith right now - these pictures certainly don't help the wait.

Outstanding rifles. Almost exactly what I have in mind for a 404 Jeffery project.

Very nice rifles.I would go with a little more drop on the comb of the 458 and use a dark traditional walnut.

Superb Adam, simply superb!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

The 7x64Breneke would be a natural combination to the larger Breneke.
Both great rounds tu2
