Guys,
I have wanted to buy a CZ 9.3 for some time for bear hunting and just to fill a hole I have in my current collection. A gentleman I sold my first rifle to has offered to sell it back to me. Here is the tough part. It is a push feed model 70 in 7 RM. It is in pretty rough shape and needs to be rebarreled. I have a very nice Carolina Precision 7 WSM already filling that role. I am thinking of buying it back and having it rebarreled to a medium bore. I looked at the 9.3 but I guess it is a different bolt size. So I think my options are now a 375 H and H or a 458. Any others I am forgetting? I am looking for a classic caliber that has loaded ammo available. Though I reload I also prefer to be bale to buy in a pinch. In reality it will only see very limited use bear hunting and if finances allow moose hunting. I know I should look at other rifles already equipped for the task but this one has a lot of sentimental attachment. Am I trying to make a square peg fit a round hole? Anyone know how reliably it will feed? Anyone know where I can get a nice walnut stock made for it with a shadow cheek piece without going broke. ie. under 600 dollars. I love wood but all my current rifles are in synthetics. I have a nice Zeiss in 1.8-5.5 that I think would fit it well. I am taking it off my sons ultralight I am building because it is a bit portly for that gun. It has bottom metal but I like the trigger guard lever instead of the factory lever to open the floor plate so that is another thing to consider. I have found some good bottom metal but it looks like it will be in the 500 dollar range. I am also considering just putting it in a synthetic stock for now like the Pro Series or similar and hunting it. I have to be honest with myself and I am very hard on my equipment. Restocking it in a high grade walnut just to tear it up is probably not a good idea. Last question is if I go the walnut route I have always liked the look of case hardened steel. Would you go that route or would you put it into a synthetic stock and get an aftermarket in SS and then cerakote the whole thing? I hate to buy a custom barrel and pay extra for blued over stainless. I don't see a lot of barrel makers offering blued.

.358 norma mag would fit. I have a bit of a fetish with the 35's though! Most big stores still carry a few boxes of ammo on the shelf, and reloading components are always available.
If bear and/or moose is the ticket, this cal will more than fit your needs, but then so would the 7mm!

Thanks guys thinking larger cal though. 375 should fit as well right? Isn't the 375 the parent to the 7 rm?

338 Win Mag. Very popular among the Elk hunters in the west and a lot of AK guys use it. Good Moose cartridge also.

Most mom & pop stores that carry ammo have 338 Win Mag on the shelf.

Easy to reload for: 200 Accubond or 210 Partition, 4350 powder, CCI250 and you are set.

I have two rifles in 338 Win Mag and I am putting a third together now for the son in law.

I have two 375 H&H rifles. Too heavy for Elk hunting in the steep mountains where I play.

I have a 358 Norma also, but have never seen factory ammo anywhere.

The 375H&H you would need to lengthen the box etc.

How about 375 Ruger Or a 416Taylor or 375 Chatfield/taylor

As usual just my $.02

How hard is it to lengthen the box and what else is involved?

Don't have a PF to look at. On the CRF M70 you would simply remove the spacer box from the rear of the mag box. Then shorten the ejector and bolt stop. Since you have a push feed nothing to do to the ejector. You might need to shorten the bolt stop to allow your bolt to travel to the rear of the new longer mag box.
