Hey guys, I am looking for some 4140 or 1040 flat iron. Would prefer cold rolled but will take what I can get.
The thinnest I have found is 1/4 thick. I can cut it down but that sure is more work than needs to be. Do any of you have a source for some 1/8"?
I found lots of places for rods.
Looks like I may have to forge it down close then grind but that sure runs the price up.
If you have any suggestions please let me know.

McMaster-Carr has 4140 down to
3/32 thickness.
If you can't find something any where
else, McMaster-Carr has it.

Thanks Brad. I have already forged the big bar down so will surface grind it to what I want.

But, I have several other projects coming up I can use the thinner stock on. I will give them a ring.
Once again, thanks.

You might try Admiral steel.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.
