Yes, we make the Richardson and Roberts actions. I was thinking Daniel was looking for feedback from users of the actions so I didn't want to chime in and possibly skew what people had to say. I'd be happy to answer any questions about them though.

Looks to me like they are every thing a modern Mauser would want to be.

They all should have charging cuts for clips and thumbs, straight bolt handles, poor metal and improper heat treatment.

Things that are all worth while today.

I don't know how this rifle is breached (I assume cone, as the rest of the design feetures scream M70), but the action seems like pure model 70. I love mausers. They are great, but the Model 70 has to be considered to be the altime best "improved" Mauser. The likes of D'Arcy Echols and David Miller choose to use them for their primary action for very good reason. I , too, dearly love the Mauser 98, but there are no flyes on the model 70. Especially the "Classic" action, as it handles gas venting better than the pre-64.

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

They are set up for a coned breech. Pretty much identical to the pre-64 design. As for M98 vs. M70, I feel like the guy running the ferry in The Outlaw Josey Wales who sings The Battle Hymn of the Republic or Dixie with equal enthusiasm depending on who walks through the door. If the customer wants a Model 70 action for his rifle build, they're the best action ever made and the same goes for the Mauser SmilerBlonde or Brunette is how I see it personally. It's whatever turns you on.

Availability and needs a lot of work that one can charge for!

The same applies to most Mauser 98 action, both commercial and milsurp. stir

I am a avid mod. 70 and Mauser fan..I prefer a Mauser, but once dressed up its considerably more expensive to build than buying a mod. 70. I see Paul Mauser more than equal to David Miller or any other gunsmith for that matter..and if both blew up in my hands, Id opt for the Mauser every time as its harden only in certain spots and under soft metal that will swell and at worst split, where a mod. 70 Win will turn into virtual handgranade with shrapnel flying all over the shop or range..Just My two bits.

Ray, these actions are actually an "improved" Mod. 70, they are case hardened!

Are these the same actions that you offered at DSC a few years back (5-6) for $1850?

They are the same. It's amazing how much one can learn in five years about the cost of manufacturing Smiler We were losing money at the earlier price point.

Are the feed rails milled into the action or do you use the sheet metal mag boxes of the mod 70 classics?

Also,How many box configurations do you offer to accommodate the different size cartridges?

We use the sheet metal boxes like the Classic. We offer three different length actions and box configurations from a .308 Win to a .375 H&H (down from six different sizes which proved to be far too expensive). I do the feed work on each action for the cartridge the customer intends to use.
