That is simply stunning. What's the base action it's built upon?

Duane,

Since stunning, awesome, absolutely superb, masterpiece and WOW! have already been used, I am at a loss as to what I can add that would be original and can only echo what has already been said.

I am also curious as to what action you started with.

Thanks for sharing!

I am so happy that finaly more and more are making custom 22lr rifles!

Its kind of weird seeing people spending thousands and thousands or dollars for a big bore rifle, that is most likely their least shot rifle ( some acctually use them alot though! ).

I see more bang for your buck in a custom 22lr! The client will probably shot 100 rounds to 1, instead of his bigger bored rifle.

The rifle was built on/from a "French MAS 45 Training Rifle"......these were .22 LR caliber, made from 1945 to 1947 on captured Mauser machinery in the French "MAS" plant. The rifle has a Mauser banner on the front bridge and they are a control feed action......important if the bunny decides to charge you.

Dear Mr. Weibe,
Having attempted a couple of custom rifles myself, I've learned that one of the skills of a maker such as yourself is the design of the overall piece such that the end result is balanced, pleasing, aesthically excellent, etc. I wouldn't make a pimple on the butt of a master gunmaker. That said, there is a problem with this rifle: It would be too easy to pick it up and head out to shoot a cape buff or ele with it!

I seem to recall, from years and years ago, seeing the MAS rifles on the used gunracks in various stores. Not many of them though. And for extremely cheap money, which of course I didn't have. CRYBABY

Congratulations on recognizing the actions for what they are, finding a few of them, and then having Mr. Wiebe alter them to suit.

Looking forward to seeing photos of the one engraved by Mr. Scrollcutter.

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

That is just f@#king cool!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

A stunning, simply beautiful rifle. I am one of those guys who also enjoys seeing the best of the gunmaker's art and skill applied to that most useful of all rifles, the magnificent little .22 rimfire.
