I know that AHR does some good work but I was wondering if anyone in Washington state or Texas would be willing to do some similar work on a couple CZ 550's I have. One of the rifles is very special and I want some good hands on it. Thank you.

Cheers,
Jake

If I had a CZ that I wanted worked on it would go to Wayne at AHR. He and his work are first class.

As usual just my $.02

My LH CZ 550 is with Wayne now. I suspect I will be able to post pics shortly and I am certain I will be pleased with the quality of work.

So far, I would rate my experience as excellent. Wayne responds very quickly to any e-mails I have sent.

Very nice looking rifle, Mr. Helm.

Could you tell us (me) about it and exactly what you had AHR do?

Did you stick with one of Wayne's standard upgrade packages or something of your own designs?

Also, I am interested in knowing what QR mounts you are using and why.

Thank you.

It's an AHR #3, with the addition of a grip cap and scrubbing the huge logo off the receiver. Wayne also mounted the scope and sighted it. He used the Warne rings because they give a little more clearance than the Talleys.

Mr Helm,
For some reason or another your pictures are not coming up on my computer... I would love to see your rifle and talk to you more about it and AHR. My e-mail is redriverjake@hotmail.com if you ever have time to send them that way. Thank you for the post.

Regards,
Jake

Let me know if you cant see them there.

Wayne and AHR are good to go in my book. Let me know what else I can tell you. You will also find a lot of other folks on here with the same impression.

My email address is in my profile if you want to send one my way.

Let me know if you don't get my email -- some of the attachments were kind of large.

For those of you who have had work done on their 55o's at AHR....

How do Wayne & Co. go over the CZ actions?

His website states the following...

quote:
All three packages include tuning and smoothing of the action so it feeds and functions every time.

Without bothering Wayne can anyone be more specific? How deep do they go to square & tune up?

Obviously the guy does just great work...he has a lot of happy customers on this board!

Best,
Dave

Well fellas, I had a talk with the little lady last night on the very same topic... trust me when I say I had a hard time believeing my ears when she said jut go on a head and do the #3 upgrade as well as any thing else that might need to be done. I knew I loved her for a good reason. I told her that if thats what I ended up doing it would probly come out at aroud $3,500 or so... she got on AHR website and agreed that Wayne does some very "good looking" work. Good stuff. Thanks all of ya'll.

Regards,
Jake

Wayne should address this himself, but he checks that the rifle feeds and functions smoothly. This is not a "pull the barrel, square-up and re-surface" action tuning, but rather a function check up.

It may sound simple, but making sure the rifle feeds, ejects, and in general cycles properly is pretty critical.

Now if he is installing the barrel or making a full custom, that is a different matter.

He can probably explain better than I did.
