I just recently picked up my new McMillan Dynasty in .300 Win Mag. The feel and the fit are superb. The action is smooth, the trigger is like no other that I have shot. I was a little reluctant to get it in .300 win mag as I am slightly recoil sensitive, but Kelly McMillan talked me into a muzzle brake. (I have a muzzle brake on another .300 and I hate it. It is so deafening and I don’t think it does much for the recoil). I don’t know how they did it, but the recoil on the Dynasty is equivalent to a .243 and isn’t much louder than a rifle without the brake on it. My first 3 shot group was .5 inches and I shot a 5 shot group of .85 inches. And that was off an unstable shooting bench. I can’t wait to shoot it off a stable bench and rest. This is definitely my new favorite rifle. This rifle is worth every penny. If you are considering a true custom rifle, you owe it to yourself to talk to the guys at McMillan. I've got an Outdoorsman in .338 WM. Mine has the Vais brake, and I'd say the recoil is at the 30-06 level. I used to think Weatherby was the best commercial rifle made, until I bought a Cooper. There is no comparison between the workmanship of the Cooper vice the Mcmillan. I am not besmirching the Cooper either, its just the Mcmillan is in a different class. | |||
