Hi Alex,

You will find attached some photos of the completed H&H style scope mount for the Kahles scope.
It was quite a challenge as we have to make all parts from scratch...
The scope is perfectly aligned and the mount shut and bolt like a vault.
The next stage being the wood work, I need to know your definitive choice about the stock design.
What do you prefer: beaded cheekpiece or like original Rigby without cheekpiece ?
How about the grip: rounded Rigby style or capped pistol grip ?
For the buttplate that’s Ok for a slim English red soft pad.
I wait for your comments asap.

Best regards.

Being a leftie I am interested in this FZH action which is very nice.Is there an agent importer in this country?Has anybody contacted them about bringing one into the USA.
I found some pricing on these although back in 2010 seems to be on average 3000 euros or $4000 which is a little steep. They are beautiful though.Pricing is posted below:

"Dear Axel,

Your .275 has started and we are in the last stage of the action reshaping and finishing.
We have discarded the too heavy FZH magazine and we have replaced it with an original pre-war Oberndorf one.
Don’t worry about the stock shape as we have at least five pre-war Rigby rifles on the rack...!
We haven’t yet chosen the wood blank, preferring to complete the metal work first.
I will return to you with some photos asap.

All the best."

I think the Rigby bolts are the sexiest of them all, in bolts. I currently working on a semi-custom that I'm modeling after a Rigby in 8x57 on a 98 action. It's 7 lb 6 oz before scope, and less than 8.5 lbs with glass. That's a true stalking rifle, and sexy.

the gorgeousness of those two is unparalleled. I'd be happy to trade a kidney for one + a match in 500 jeffery.

(seriously, a match of 275 and 500jeff and a hunt and you can pick a kidney)

I have an original intermidiate "BU" marked Mauser action from 1913, which unfortunately has a thumbcut. The frontring has never been ruined on this reciever with a dovetailcut or anyother holes/drilling. Is there a smart way to export such an action if some guy in america desires such action for a customrifle?.

BTW. Beautiful rifle Dorleac & Dorleac does. thanks for sharing.

Those Recknagel gold bead aren't that bright but they do offer that bead with the additional flip up ivory bead that is far better for twilight use.

Little update since you lovely people here on AR seem to have a wee bit of interest for my little project, seems like the rifle will be done before summer - june 13th to be spesific!

Got an email regarding the stock today Smiler

Dear Axel,

We have found in our stock of woods an old French walnut blank that seems perfectly suitable for a pre-war Rigby type stock.
Alas the photos don't do justice to the true quality of the wood.
Indeed it's a quiet walnut, not a shiny Circassian as seen on modern Blaser rifles, but it's strong with well-oriented grain flow.
Such a wood matches our original quotation, however we can provide a nicer blank, but as good seasoned French walnut is becoming scarcer and more difficult to come, the basic price will grow…

We have some very nice well seasoned French walnut blanks, but they are pricey...
, and frankly I don’t think it would be the best thing to do !
That one is perfect for the intended project, it is correct for the base quotation, and, when finished, it will be in the Rigby style of the past.

Let me know your opinion asap so we will be able to start the woodwork in January.

All the best.
Joel Dorleac

If you're going for the original Rigby look whereby wood was a bit plain since John Rigby saw his bolt guns as working tools (unlike his dressier doubles), then that blank suits the bill. I'd be inclined, however, to ask if he has any other examples of blanks that fit within your quoted price ... just for curiosity sake.

I could, but - who am I to sit on the internet half a world away and try to judge up the different woods from looking at a picture. I trust Joel to have picked up a blank adequate for the job and with decent lines...
