Thought I'd share a couple pictures of a project just finished. I bought this stock partially inletted and shaped and then I sent it and the barreled action off to Jim Kobe to put his touch to...inletting 1 pcs BM, talley sling bases, final inletting and shaping, finishing, as well as a beautiful checking job.
I rather like how it turned out.

I have the same rifle and thought about doing the same thing many times. I bet yours is not a "featherweight" any more. Most nice wood is a bit more dense that Win factory lumber. Beautiful, none the less.
Everyone will tell you that these mods ruin the value but who is to say you simply cannot retain the original stock?
Personally if the stock fit me, I would gladly pay more for a Pre 64 customized like yours than a "like" one with the original wood.
Nice work!
