I'm interested.

Anyone actually in possession of, or shot/handled one of these rifles?

Unless I'm reading the spec sheet wrong, which is certainly possible, the .300 Weat. Mag. weighs the same in the Closer and the supposedly lighter Professional.

A .300 Winchester Professional showed up in my favorite gunshop last week. Gato if you get through Victoria anytime soon stop by Don's Firearms to look at one if they still have it when you do.

Great looking gun, handled well, bolt cycled smoothly and light weight. Based on looks, handling and weight alone, I would call it a bargain at under $1,800. I would love to own it but have multiple .300's already. Based on handling this one, I asked Don to put a hold on a 6.5 Creedmoor he has on order. Look forward to getting it and putting some rounds downrange to see if they shoot as well as they look.

Thanks for the heads up. I just returned from Argentina for a couple of weeks so am a bit late on this but I'm about to close on a small addition to my new place in SW Texas which I will need to visit after the closing. Victoria really isn't on the direct route (at nearly 600 mi one way what's a few more) but I may take a side trip to see the rifle if it is still there in a week or two.

Like you, I've got way too many .300s but I love the cartridge and might sell some to add one. Gracias.

I emailed them about a dealer account and they are running behind on projected manufacturing. Very informative and helpful reply though, and willing to do business with a small shop.

I am purchasing a Professional in 300 Win. Todd at LAW was extremely friendly. I think that they are less behind production but more interested in only producing extreme high quality rifles.

I won't get it set by this sheep season but I might take it on my Bison hunt, this fall.

It is a very nice rifle and I will purchase another in 6.5 Creedmore this winter.

Sincerely,
Thomas

I noticed this on the site:

These three parts, the Maker, the Stock and the Action, coalesce to create Legendary Arms Works, a new standard by which all others will be judged. READ MORE ABOUT OUR "LEGENDARY" STORY

I appreciate the need to market with simple messages. But I'd suggest the barrel is important.

They have a non disclosure agreement that not even the VPs know the particular source of each lot of match grade barrels but the barrels are inspected and sent up to be lapped. Rejects are sent to another manufacture of semi-custom rifles that use the ones that aren't up to LAW specifications.
The idea is that many different manufacturers offer match grade barrels and they want the latitude to offer them at a competitive price.
They also want to have the ability to reject a particular match barrel source if the barrels are not at a particular level. Todd also told me that they are main line sources that are close to Bansner and that I wouldn't be getting a Criterion barrel that the LAW Inspection guidelines are extremely rigid.

Picked up a Professional in 6.5 Creedmoor this afternoon and had Don mount a 3.5x10 Meopta in Tally mounts on it. Fit and finish are very nice for a semi-custom gun. Lightweight olive Hi Tech stock. A bit short for me but most factory guns are. Trigger is heavy for my tastes at 3.5 to 4 lbs. but it has a Timney #510 so I think I can play with it to get it set at my preference. A nice touch is the rifle comes with a Boyt soft guncase with the logo embroidered on it. Has to be a $50 or $60 case... cool addition!

Added a box of factory Hornady 129 grain SST's to put the rifle through her paces. Will get her shot in this weekend and post the results.

From another website:

I bought the Professional in 280AI. The rifle looks awesome but sucks in the accuracy department. After seasoning I tried 4 different factory ammo from Nosler. Best group was 1.1 inch at 96 yards and the worst was 6 inches. Sent the rifle back due to major accuracy issues. The 1.1 inch group was 3 shots, the group after letting the barrel completely cool and shooting 2 more rounds was 3.2inches. I tried several different bullets and powders in reloading. The accuracy was still junk. I called Legendary and talked with JD. He stated that there is some stock issues with the 280AI and 300 Win. Mags that first went out early in production. He had me send back the rifle. They sent back the rifle and a test target. The test target with factory Nosler ammo was shot by Legendary after the fixed the issue and to verify accuracy of 1 inch or less with factory ammo per their guarantee. The test target showed 2 groups. The first was a group of 1.885 and the second a1.1inch. Even they couldn't get the to shot 1 inch or less. I call and they stated that they fixed the stock issue and for me to shoot the rifle. I shot took out the rifle with all Nosler factory Amos and some different hand loaded that I had already tried. Best 3 shot group at 96 yards was 1.229inch and the worst was 4.375 inch. The best 3 shot group turned into a 5 shot group of 2.992 at 96 yards. I talked to legendary today about the accuracy and my true disappointed. They want me to send it back again! I sold all of my rifles to buy this one and a G7 BR2 rangefinder for hunting. I was supposed to do a backcountry hunt Aug 30 through tomorrow the 4th. Well that didn't happen due to not having my rifle. My experience so far with these rifles and Legendary arms is not good at all so far. At this time I would not recommend them. Just my experience so far.

If I were going that route I would contact Pete Pieper at Precision Barrel Work in Hempstead, Texas.

Hope mine shoots but I swear I didn't get rid of all of my rifles to buy this one! Wink

And to be fair from the same thread:

"My Closer in 308 is very accurate, maybe even .5 MOA so far in just 2 outings to the range, using hand loaded 150 grain sierra pro hunters or hornady interlocks over R15. did NOT like 165s. I am happy!"

Seems to be a problem with the earliest rifles with serial numbers under 400. Still a concern. Will see how the weekend goes.

Your results may vary but I am happy with mine.

My LAW 6.5 Creedmoor Professional shooting 129 grain factory Hornady SSTs at 100. I mounted a Meopta 3.5x10 by 44mm on it. After walking it in from the boresighting she settled in and three shots grouped nicely.

I ordered a Big 5 in .375 H&H early this year (January from memory) and have not received the same and have not checked with the shop in a couple months. Hoping the issues are indeed on the early runs as I don't want mine to shoot minute of buffalo! I will update if/when I receive the rifle.

I picked up a professional 300wm at sportmans warehouse. I've only taken it to the range twice. It shoots several factory loads easily under an inch. Build quality is top notch. Mines a keeper.

I am very surprised to see Sportsmanship carry them. What was their price?

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. I've got a Professional in .28 Nosler on order, should be hear in a few days.
Looking forward to playing with it as it should make my 7mm Rem Mags redundant.
Not the fastest 7mm speedster but it should work good..

I just ordered a 6.5 Creedmore from Grice's Gun Shop in Clearfield, PA. The salesman told me they quickly sold their initial shipment of LAW rifles and the reaction has been fantastic. LAW tells Grice they can't give a promise date because they are so back ordered ( I expected that). Also the bad news, a price increase is coming for the rifles. If you find a dealer with one and you are deciding, I would snap it up. Apparently it will cost more soon.

A good friend and dealer sent me a Professional model in 28 Nosler and it is one fine rifle.
Quality of fit finish and function is excellent, Bansner stocks have long been a favourite of mine.
First range trip consisted of clean and fire after every shot for 10 rds. and all 10 made a 1.2" group using 139 Hornady loaded about upper mid-range for a 7mm Mag.. so the potential is there I think.
I'm not crazy about muzzle brakes but this one is removable.
One more break-in trip to the range and ten its time for serious load work.... trouble is there is not much info out there for the 28 Nosler... yet..
