Got this one from a AR member with some deep scrapes on the barrel and numerous marks on the stock and a nice minty action. It began as a refurb-to-factory project and midship I decided to go ape and enhance the boring forend grain & give it a full fill on the pores and a gloss finish. 75% of the orginal finish was retained. Roger Ferrell polished & rust blued the barrel and I rust blued the scope rings and bases (first time for me). CB Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

Thanks Jimatcat. It's nice to see that at least one person likes it. Lots of hours went into flattening the stock surface and improving the forend figure on this one. Sorry about the fuzzy pictures here. It's bore sighted and ready for the range. Cheers. CB Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

I have a Sako L-46 Rhiamaki in .222 Rem. in the fwt model and its been my go to coyote gun for over 60 years, how I love the 222, and its taken a number of deer and pronghorns for my kids, my grand kids, and will do the same for my great grand kids after they sprout some pounds and height, they are a tad tiny as we speak.. Someday I will learn how to spell Rhihemaki, but I never have the gun in the house when Im on the computer playing AR..Any help would be appreciated!! Great Googlmoogly Ray. Go find the Google Search to look it up, it has spell check and save it to your Favorites by pressing the CTRL button and D at the same time on the keyboard. Damn kids never learn. . Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

Very nice. Love seeing someone take on an "unloved" project gun and turning it into a beauty. Great job on the stock fill. Looks like glass! _____________________________________________________ No safe queens!

This rifle is listed for sale on GB. Is this your rifle or is someone scamming on GB. Item #906006698

Thanks Clayman. Much appreciated. This finish is the result of my first time using an airbrush for the 7 top coats (over 3 rubbed in filler/sealer coats). Yes kda55. No scam. That is mine on GB. Thought I'd feel out the market. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

FWIW - Just test drove my new airbrush from Paasche on this Sako because some dumb ass (me) didn't get all the barrel cleaning fluid off of the finish and had to redo a couple spots where it distorted the finish. Nice U.S. made unit for $100. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

Beautiful work. Like it very much. If you don't mind describing the stock finishing process, I'd be curious about how you enhanced the grain on the forend and what technique/finish you used to fill the grain. Looks great.

Thanks JeffreyPhD, No solid procedure went into the enhancement of the fore end grain. Lots of trial & error and a combination of several "touches of color" from different sources I had on hand. It took about 10 tries to get to an acceptable result. The finish is somewhat explained in my GunBroker listing 906006698. A few coats of rubbed in Birchwood Casey sealer/filler was topped off with a few coats of rubbed in TruOil. Then all surfaces were 'leveled', raw wood areas enhanced to match the color tone of the original stock, more sealer and several fine coats of the oil were applied on with a airbrush. Thanks for the description. Sounds like there's some trial and error on the color matching. Congrats on the end result.

You're welcome. Yes there is a lot of trial involved. Lighting is important. What may seem great in artificial light can look too bold in natural light especially in the red and dark brown tones.
