I am new to the whole "nice wood" game. After following the thread on here on tradewinds AHR rifle. I was wondering if you folks could post your pics of your Bastogne stocks

This just might be the type I use for my next build.

Mine aren't Bastone.
Just American Black Walnut. These are the two 404 Jeffery Rifle stock made by John Valicek in Canyon Lake, Texas.

OK so, now that we have seen these beautiful stocks. What does a finished product like that run? I am thinking that a blank might be around $500 and to turn it into a finished fitted stock might be another $1000. Is this about right?

Unless you are doing the work yourself then your estimate is on the low side. MY finished rifle was a second and less than $100 but 20+ years ago. The other was a $125 Blank and I think a steal. Add $100-150 to turn it. Many of those other blanks could easy go $500. Basic checkering is $150-250. Many of the examples you see could be in the $400-500 for checkering alone. If you have someone that will finish a stock to the quality of most examples above checker it for $1000 you had better jump on it.

Th barreled action was bead blasted prior to bluing.

What you see isn't exactly the finish I wanted.....I was looking more for a matte satin finish.....but it's what I got and just didn't bother to re do it.

The quarter rib is by Dakota and was made for a #5 contour barrel. The barrel is from MRC and very little fitting was necessary.....It's merely soldered on!
