Some pics sent by Ralf.
It is looking pretty good.
I will quote him so I can describe what you are looking at.

"Yes George , I roughed it out , about .125" oversize all around . No inletting at all since I don't have a pattern . So I will do all of that and the final shaping by hand. Good hard dense wood with super figure . Pictures are just with water on the wood and my cell phone . Doesn't do the wood enough justice. With the oil finish the color will even out from the forend and butt. Are you going to Vegas again ?

That's a sweet stick for some sweet metal.
That action is a GEN 1 S/A. Did a few of those '02 thru '10, That very 458 being the last of that design. The Gen 1 was done in 416 Rigby, 404 Jeffery, 375 H&H, 458 Lott, 338 Win mag. All have been cherished rifles by their owners 416 and 375 both doing well by their owners filling out on big 5 hunts.
As a reminder, that particular 458 lott has been set up to feed the 500gr meplates. Just so you know when time comes for planning ammo.
Otherwise, like I said great looking stick should be a super rifle can't wait to see her finished.

My compliments to mother nature for the beauty of the wood, but what I really like the most is how that bolt handle is attached.

What I like most is the work Ralf did shaping the blank so far.

Ralf's metal work is also pretty spectacular. He is top tier - can't find anything I don't like about his work.
