Would personally go with a 9.3x64 BUT that is a great looking rifle!

Duane Wiebe just finished a 9x64mm for me also on a ZG-47 action and the bottom blank was used to stock that rifle. Taking it to Alaska in a couple of days to do a moose hunt with Mr. Shoemaker

Ralf is simply an amazing artist with metal and wood! On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch... Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son! - Rudyard Kipling Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

Seems like there has been a lot of Zg-47 actioned custom rifles here lately. Someone must have hit the mother load on them. Beautiful rifle.

Very Nice! Don't let Phil trade you guns. He could offer up "old ugly". HA HA! Are you sure you don't want to take the Holland? It would look pretty cool tied in a scabbard to the wing strut. Good Luck Brett

Besides that rifle by Duane there will be another custom rifle by Lon Paul in camp and I will be carrying a Joe Smithson 9.3x62. At least when the moose are bedded up during the day we should have some pretty things to look at. ForrestB will also be bringing his Wiebe 9.3x64mm. Forrest and I did a lot of shooting over the past couple of weeks developing handloads for the 9.3x64mm. Both of us found 66.5grs of RL-15 gave us the best groups and lowest standard deviation. We are both getting 2600fps with a 286gr Nosler Partition and 66.5grs/RL-15. Both of our rifles were cut with the same reamer, however my barrel is a Krieger and Forrest's is a Lother Walther. Now we just need to find the moose that Phil tied up for us.

I have a few for sale, Cook & Winston, Boerne, Tx 830-248-1145 has 3 on consignment. I like the drop at heel on the above stock. Too many customs today have straight combs. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

I have handled that finished Ralf Martini 338 Magnum. It is "typical Ralf Martini", meaning it is one of the finest handling Bolt Rifles on the Planet.[The reason I say "Typical Ralf Martini" is because I have handled several of his rifles, they are Perfect, in every way]. IMHO of course. ![]() IF, you are into Bolt Rifle Trash... Sorry, could not resist. ![]() It is one Awsome rifle. The fit, finish, checkering, etc. is perfect. As to the calibre, I am a big fan of the 9,3mm bore, however for an American hunter of elk and up sized game, in the lower 48, or moose and the BIG bears in Alaska, and bigger plains game in Africa, The 338 is an excellent choice. Again IMHO. Here is a bit of trivia, I have hunted quite a bit, in the North West USA, and in Alaska, and I have stopped in a LOT of gunstores in these areas, and if it is elk country, they WILL have 338 Win Mag ammo. Many of these same small town gun stores will not have even one box of 375 H&H... Even gas stations carry 338 Win Mag ammo, in elk country... ![]() DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY
