Hi all, this is probably the wrong place to ask, but I can't find a "Value" forum, so I thought I'd throw myself at the mercy of the troglodytes who live here (at least it's not the political forum, where I would get no mercy). I was in my local today and the owner dragged out an interesting rifle. Action looked sort of like a generic Lee Enfield, but with a few changes. The rifle had a one-piece stock with a small scnabel on the foreend and the pistol grip had a sort-of Prince of Wales finish. Action cocked on closing. It looked like an LE, but it also had dual lugs on the front of the bolt. Magazine protruded from the stock, was single column. Calibre .303 Brit No rust, checkering still decent, stock a little darkened with age. Any ideas of value? -- Promise me, when I die, don't let my wife sell my guns for what I told I her I paid for them.

Yes, thank you - that looks a lot like it. I also see one on 45-70 but the stock isn't quite the same http://www.gunbroker.com/Aucti....aspx?Item=551275629 -- Promise me, when I die, don't let my wife sell my guns for what I told I her I paid for them.

There is a nice sporter model here in Alaska in decent original shape in 32-40 with nice checkering, curved steel buttplate and a striker mounted peep sight they are asking $1600 and its been for sale for a year or more. Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship Phil Shoemaker Alaska Master guide FAA Master pilot NRA Benefactor www.grizzlyskinsofalaska.com
