I’ve got a really nice older Mauser that has a custom wood stock. The finish on the stock is a bit dull. What do you recommend to bring out the grain, and what polish do you recommend to protect the stock?
Much appreciated.
Good hunting, Sako
One of Us Are you refinishing it, or just trying to enhance the original/current finish? Jeremy
One of Us Just trying to bring out the grain. Not refinishing it. Does renaissance wax bring out a good polish?

One of Us Renaissance wax...while an excellent product will not add much gloss...(I think that's what you're trying to do?) Auto parts stores sell Medguiars Carnuba plus..really bring out the gloss and is very durable

One of Us Exactly what I was looking for. Bring out the shine. What do you recommend cleaning the stock with before application?
Good hunting, Sako
One of Us A wet rub with mineral spirits followed by a terry cloth dry works best for me. Maybe a stiff tooth brush scrub on the checkering.

One of Us I like Howards Feed-N-Wax. Adds some sheen to finishes. Good luck.
