Was by Matrix Gunsmithing yesterday and thought to show work in progress on their new offering, CZ 550 Upgrade #2spl
(they are expanding their CZ550 upgrades that Wayne graciously turned over to them).

Just a simple extension of the Integral Barrel CAD, with all the same parameterized features
and uses the CZ factory barrel contour. The front and rear sight base heights are linked together,
so any NECG front sight option, including the infamous "poacher sight", track the rear express sight
filing depth.

The contour of the bottom of the Qrib is machined to seamlessly match the factory contour and would
make install by any gunsmith easy peasySmiler

With the IntegraL Barrel Technology, any analytical factory contour can be used for the kit, Winchester, Remington, etc.
OR any strange, non-analytical barrel such as the CZ

Anyhow, might poach some Integral Barrel business but for those folks that want the second to best CZ upgrade, this might be the ticket.

PS. I should note that the barrel bands follow the linear taper of the barrel. Is this necessary, no,
but now they fit as if integral to the barrel. Thanks

What is the infamous poacher sight? Google didn't turn up any results for me.

Steve505, can you give an example of this?

Also, in this sentence yo used the word "porach" can you define that word for me?
"Anyhow, might porach some Integral Barrel business but for those folks that want the second to best CZ upgrade, this might be the ticket."

Thank you.

Sorry. One of my African books used this term. I guess the modern description is "night sight" from NECG. See pics below.

Thanks for paying attention. Mis-spelling has been correct, should read "poach", meaning the qrib kit taking business from the integral barrel businessFrowner

"employers risk having their newly trained workers poached by other companies"

Again, too many book on AfricaSmiler

Regarding the taper. Once passed the radiused transition from the breech end, most all barrels use a linear taper reducing the barrel diameter to the muzzle end, anywhere from 9/1000 to 11/1000 diameter reduction per inch. So for every inch moved towards the muzzle, the barrel diameter is reduced by 9/1000 to 11/1000.

If fitting a 1" ring band, then the rear diameter of the band should be 9/1000 larger than the front diameter.

In our case, the front sight total length is almost 3" and so the front to rear diameter difference could be up to 33/1000. Does this matter? To a gunsmith, no, but to an engineer....

Does Martix Gunsmithing have a website? What are they charging for the rib and front sight?

I am just an engineer but think it would be between a banded ring set from NECG at $250 to a Custom , quarter rib only, of $750.

Love it Steve! Some very nice looking parts. Love the clean look of the front sight.

What's the thickness of the band of the sling swivel? It appears a little stout in the picture.

Good eye! Thanks for looking.
The thickness of the ring bands are parameterized to the barrel diameter in the CAD program anywhere
from slightly negative for no bands to any
thickness desired. Since a prototype, they did not bother to changeSmiler

just to finish up, Matrix is also offering a machined and goldlined rear sight height matched to the front sight height.
There is 20/1000 margin for hand filing in the elevation.
The goldline is 40/1000 wide, which is the sight picture width of the standard NECG 2mm beads.
