A friend and I went into town to get lunch at Popeye's Chicken and see what Cabela's had. We decide, while we are at it, to check out BGC.

Expensive error...

He had a gorgeous O/U from the Suhl Region in 16 gauge upper and 8x72 lower. Easily 85%, bore is perfect. 3/4 coverage scroll engraving. To die for. $1895.

I was feeling pretty safe, since I had less than a hundred bucks in my pockets. The owner and his son and I have been dealing since the late 70's, and he says to his son, make him a layaway deal he can't pass up.

Pictures to follow.

Sweet. Combination guns are such a great study in utility. They also tend to be very ornate, at least the ones that I have seen.

I've been gone from the west too long. Popeye's Chicken in Boise?? That just seems so strange to me. No offense. I just didn't think that they made it past the Mississippi river. They do have good chicken.

I like Boise, but I would drive 10 miles to go around a Popeyes here.

This one has a very good cook. 2-4pm weekdays, a leg and a thigh for 99-cents!

BGC generally has at least one or two really neat things. Like the O/U.

I have found over the last 30 plus years that Gary Hopper is just too damn easy to deal with! He has kept me in debt for that number of years or close anyway! My worst nightmare is having a gunshow table next to him, now that has cost me dearly on several ocassions..Next time I think I'll just buy his table and send him home! rotflmo

We are so lucky over here in the UK that we have to apply to the Police Licencing authroities and provide detailed justification why you need another rifle and what it will be used for. It prevents impulse purchasing and then haveing to justify it to the managment. Smiler

Why did you have to post this? Why?

I'm going to be in Boise this weekend visiting my best friend and I NOW will have to go to this store and hopefully not spend $$$.

I guess you do not want to know about the eighteen old model 70's in a nice row about eight feet long then...
90% or better.

Make sure you have him take you to Cabela's and see Elmer Keith's gun collection and the diorama.

regards,

Rich

Actually, I find it easier to NOT discuss such things with the in-house Minister of Finance.

My greatest fear is that something like this is attempted here in the US.

understand that...

the only process I/we have to contend with here in Idaho is transferring money from savings to the checking account.

Then, it's Debit Card time.

The Elmer Keith collection was awesome! Saw it earlier today.

I'll have to give it 5 stars, but no stars for the Boise Gun Company.

Cabela's had an unfired pre-64 Mod 70 in 30-06 for $1,995. It was tempting, not sure if that was a good price or not. One of these days I need to get a 30-06, never had that cartridge. I figured I would get in a model 70 of some sort, either an older collectible rifle, a new special edition from Winchester, or a full on customer Mod 70.

Boise Gun company has a lot of real nice stuff.

However it is the most disorganized store I have ever been in.
