Do the Custom Shop still exist? I have a friend that wants to have a Winchester Model 70 Supergrade in .338WM Left Hand. If the shop does not exist does anyone know a Gunsmith that can build a custom replica of the Model 70? Thanks Ed

I see no mention of a custom shop on their website but can assure you that there are several folks posting here that will build exactly that rifle for you....and It'll be a far cry better than anything that ever came from the Winchester custom shop. You'll likely have to settle for a left hand classic instead of the new "Carolina built" model but the classics are still (IMO) fine actions. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Winchester's custom shop never reopened after their move from New Haven. In S.C. they advertised their super grade models but I have not seen them materialize . They are still not the custom shop level. The S.C. Winchester does not produce left hand models period. Don't waste time waiting. Spend you're money or you're friends some where else. As Vapodog stated there are excellent gunsmiths on this forum that can build you a custom. If you're friend is set on a winchester action, he might have to find a doner rifle and have it customized. They are getting harder to find. The closest rifle that is commercially produced is Dakota Arms. They are produced in left hand and you can find them new or used. Winchester custom shop LH rifles occasionally pop up on Gunbroker,GunsAmerca, Gunsinternational,Cabelas etc... you just have to be patient and dilligent
