I picked up an old Remington 722 in 222 rem. It is in an above average custom stock. Not a Wiebe job, but decent journeyman workmanship. 45 degree ebony tip and monte carlo stock, but otherwise classically styled. Pulled it apart and G. K. Beckett Ohio was penciled in the barrel channel. Also the word "checker" was written and circled in pencil as if maybe he checkered it. Anybody know of a gunsmith Beckett from Ohio? For all I know it could also be the owners name. The bore has had some rust in it sometime over the years, but we are still going to see how she does on prairie dogs this summer. I've seen some pretty bad bores still shoot darn good. MFG date is Jan 1950, so it is very early for a triple deuce. John | ||
