You see....the pictures like the ones on this thread and others is is what I like most about AR. Not only are there many fine people on here, some of the most beautiful rifles (and trophies) I've ever seen pop up on here frequently. To those who take the time, Thanks. Ray

I split the difference with my 7X57 on a Mexican action. It got a 25" Shilen #2. The longer tube works well with slow powders and 160gr bullets.

Its maiden voyage to Wyoming a few years ago.

I just saw this clip from Field and Stream dated 2002 about best deer cartridges. 7x57mm. The Spanish troops who made San Juan Hill hot for the Rough Riders in 1898 did so with 7x57 Mausers. One of the all-time-great game cartridges, it is a bit more powerful than the 7mm/08 but still very pleasant to shoot. It comes in a variety of bullet weights, and any one is fine for deer except the 175-grain, which is for bigger stuff. Like the 7mm/08, it works well with a 20-inch barrel.

I had never shot let alone own a 7x57 until a friend convinced me that this G&H was too nice not to buy. Been hooked ever since. Now I am looking for another one. This rifle has a 20" barrel and even without a scope it's pretty effective out to 200-yards

I shortened a win 70 fwt from 22 to 19" for a customer- Factory Norma 150 gr loads went from 2725 to 2675fps. Really made a sweet light quick handling rifle.

This one was built from a new in the cosmoline military surplus action in the late 1970's and remains unfired beyond a water tank test fire. It swings right up with the 22 inch barrel. Weighs 7.25 pounds as is but feels lighter.

G&H made some very attractive rifles. One day one of theirs will sit in the safe, or maybe a couple.

Cutombolt, neat rifle. I like gunstock carving, but it is hard to pull off. This one looks right to me. Ornate, but not 70's disco flashy.

Thanks. Many variations of these were made in Richland Gun Shop. Richland, PA is my home town. So, I have a soft spot for their customs, not so much for the actual 70's look. Doublegun Congrats on that G&H Springfield find. Looks really clean and original.
