It's a bit shade/brightness sensitive. Not what I expected from a $500 camera.

Hey Ray ...
Nice gun ...
My son could really help you with this .. he's a shutterbug

My only advice is to get a different colored back-drop ... red clashes with the red's in the stock ..

Mostly good photos are about the light. Natural light, next to a window for example, works well because it lessens the contrast between harsh light and shadows if you position the rifle correctly. A grey background will help with exposure and color balance.

Thanks Allen,

It was one of my first finishing jobs on a semi-inlet except for the checkering. I removed quite a bit of the lower shadow line (way too wide). Your positive professional opinion means a lot to me.

Might get to play with the camera more tomorrow. I'll probably a try white or dull grey (Thanks Wink) background after I re-read the online booklet. Thanks.

You will recall that most camera meters will meter for a middle gray. That means that if there is a light subject the recommended exposure will render it gray and everything else in accordance. Exact opposite with a dark subject. Kind of like a thermometer. Can't tell you its reading water or gravy, just what the temp. is.

For items like guns it might be best to have a soft overhead light source. Open sky works well, and so does indirect soft window light. Meter for a gray card and take your shot. If there are hot spots reduce the light with gobos, and if there are dark spots increase the light with a reflector.
