Anyone built or had built a full size bolt action in 17HMR? Thinking something that resembles a 23” barreled center fire bolt action big game rifle that would weigh about 7 1/4 lbs scoped.

The Kimber, Tikka, CZ,Anschutz, Savage, Bergera, rim fire actions don’t trip my trigger. Not a big Ruger fan but their action may have some potential, but understand they have feeding issues with their clip system.

Anyone have any suggestions or experiences?

I've often thought something like that would make a great walkabout rifle. My thought was to build it on a 1922 Springfield action, but might have trouble getting it down to 7 1/4 pounds with a scope. Or how do you feel about single shots?

Cooper 57 in 17 hmr is a full size rifle. Company was recently acquired and production paused, but the rifles can be found.
Very nice rifles available in several grades.

A .17HMR I built on an original Winchester Low Wall action converted to pistol grip. It is full size, man size and very accurate. The scope is 5x brand new built by Parsons with original Lyman A5 parts. Stock is fancy California English walnut. The forend tip is ebony. The barrel is 26" octagon with a round cylinder section at the breech. The rifle's LOP is 14" and it weighs about 7 lbs. as you see it.

.17HMR in process.

I have a Ruger in 17WSM. It shoots under a inch @ 100 yds. I have put after market trigger in it. That was a pain in the rear but I finally got a good trigger. It is a great prairie dog gun. You can kill them out tp 300 yards.

A full size build in sxmall calibers is not exactly a ground braker. Thr Spingfield 03 is a fine example as is the M-70 in 22 Hornet.... etc.

I did a couple MAS (sort of a larger action for the 22RF), Made into a trim full size rifle for off season practice and enjoyment.

Point is that one is not locked into using a big CF action. Steve's rifle is a good example

I make 3 position bolt shrouds for the MAS rifles now, it makes a really neat rifle, and the action is large enough it can be modified for other cartridges. Laying a 17HMR round in the action, you'd have plenty of room, but would need to sort out the magazine.

I have a junk rifle I used as a test bed when developing the MAS shroud that I converted to 7.62x25 just for fun. It makes a nice plinker.

Some nice examples so far by SDH and Steve505. Looked at a Hagn Mini 17HMR but that rifle was too small, the Hagn Mini X would work but think I would like a bolt gun. Had a Kimber 82 (I believe that was the model)in .22 Hornet but that was a little to small compared to my hunting rifles. Is the Cooper similar in size to the Kimber 82’s?

My full size .22 is a 1922 Springfield built in the Parker-Whelen shop in Washington,D.C. It weighs ten pounds scoped. It is a classic sporter with original barrel.
