I've decided to have a safari rifle built in 416 Remington. A Winchester CRF action will be the foundation of the build. It is time to look for a rifle to cannabalize for its action or a CRF action. Obviously, a 416 would work, but what other calibers have a long enough action and sufficient bolt face for such a project. Thanks for the input. Will J. Parks, III

7STW, 300 Weatherby, 375 H&H of course, would all be easy. But any gunsmith worth the title should be able to open any belted mag up to work. "There always seems to be a big market for making the clear, complex."

Any "Classic" in 7mm STW, .375 H&H or RUM cartridges. If you go with the Pre 64 then any rifle will fit the bill. The price of knowledge is great but the price of ignorance is even greater.

My riflemaker prefers a standard 30/06 or similar action to start with, not an existing magnum action. He opens them up himself as well as doing all the other things needed to make an ultra reliable safari rifle.

find a 7rem mag and cannibalize it....you'll have the magnum bolface, feedrails will be opened already, all you'll need is a barrel... go big or go home ........ DSC-- Life Member NRA--Life member DRSS--9.3x74 r Chapuis

Diesel, if you find one let me know. The builder said he would prefer one that was manufactured in the old New Haven Connecticut facility rather than one of the new South Carolina models. I mentioned your name. Will J. Parks, III
