Poor service from Brownells

Am I the only one getting poor service from Brownells? I placed a order over the phone the morning of Dec. 2nd. I asked about shipping & was told I would have it in four days. I was willing to pay extra but the lady assured me standard shipping was all I needed. It was three days before my credit card was charged so I assume that is when they shipped it. Well here it's the evening of the 9th of Dec.& still not here. Another thing that makes me angry is the $10 charge for a catalog now. I have had a account with them since 1963. Guess it's time to start shopping around.

Something is wrong; I pay the $50 flat rate per year and order at least every two weeks. My packages arrive 2 days later, sometimes the next day. Never had a problem with Brownells.
I place orders on the internet to all companies that allow it; phones are from the 19th century.

Never had an issue either. Also, Brownells doesn't deliver, USPS or UPS does, so wouldn't they be responsible for a late delivery?

Here's a novel idea though, contact them regarding the order, they'd be in the best position to tell you why there was a delay.

Physical catalogs are a thing of the past. It probably costs them $5 bucks just to mail that beast.

You have been ordering them for 55+ years. How many problems have you had?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

I've always had good dealings with Brownell's. I know mail-order catalogs are a thing of the past ( I just wish someone would tell all these other businesses that fill up my mailbox with the junk ones.) The Brownell's catalog was always a joy to look through though.

Never mistake motion for action.

Same here. The edge shipping is a great buy. I used to have a list going of items needed from Brownells so I only had to place one order a week with one shipping fee. Now I order an item as soon as I think of it (often times throughout the day) and don't worry about the shipping costs. No problem with deliveries or service either.

What did they tell you when you contacted them about it?

I called Brownells this morning. I was told the order will be delivered Thursday Dec. 12th. That is 10 days after I ordered it. They didn't ship it until the 5th. Their excuse is they are busy with the Holidays. To me this is very poor service.

You ordered something on the 2nd and it took 3 days to process, fill, and ship your order during the busiest time of year.

Your conclusion is very poor service.

We are all entitled to our opinions.

Of course when you post things on the internet you are implicitly inviting people people to render their opinion about your opinion.

The responses above appear to have reached a consensus.

Yeah, I recommend you stop using brownells and instead, patronize all those other Gunsmithing supply houses out there. 3 days to process is simply too long during the holiday season. Get irate and do not stand for it.

Great service received here for several decades.

Funny, I was just mentioning to my brother today that I adhere to the "buy local" mantra except for the fact that usually what I want isn't available locally but Brownells seems to always have it and the item is at my office in a week or so. We just received 4 packages from them today!

Always had great service from Brownells, altho' a little concerned about their expansion to other fields. I have always wondered about Jack First, yes we have that, it will ship today. Do you suppose they have a fleet of 12 year olds on bicycles whipping down to the Post Office?

I order from brownells probably 3-4 times a year. Never had an issue with them. Shipping charges are very reasonable. 30$ and it is with me in 10 days!

Brownells has been charging for their catalog for a quite a few years, it's worth the price if you prefer having a physical catalog on hand to browse through.

Going back to the 1950s or thereabouts, anyhow back in the days of Mr. Brownelll himself I suppose, can't remember that far back, never have I had an issue of any kind...I need them worse than they need me for sure....

Some of your complaint could be with the USPS or your shipper, that wouldn't surprise me at all...

BTW I get a catalog every year, and have never been charged???
