Planning on a 25-06 build
I'm going to have a custom rifle chambered in 25-06 built sometimes in the future after i get a few guns here very soon. i want to spend about $2,000 to $4,000 at the most for it. It's going to be a bolt action with a maple stock and at least a 26'' barrel but i'm not sure fo exactly what kind of bolt action to use. anyway who would be some of the best choices to get to buld such a rifle? also any ideas for the action? thanks very much for any and everybit of info you can give me on this as this will be one of the most important rifles to me that i will have.

the only place i'm considering to build this rifle at the moment is AHR. i would like to at least have a few other places for consideration. although AHR did send me a pic of what i consider to be the most beautiful piece of fiddleback maple i've ever seen. i've halfway considered Kilimanjaro rifles but their cheapest model is twice the amount i want to pay for this rifle and i know very little about them except that i think their rifles are very very nice looking.

Would you like to give us a hint as to what this rifle is to be used for? The .25-'06 is useful both as a big game hunting round and as a varmint cartridge. Are you interested in one or the other, or both? It's hard to recommend an action, barrel profile or stock design without this information.

This is a custom built .25-'06 on a pre-64 Model 70 Winchester action which I am planning on selling eventually, which would be ideal as a long range varmint rifle.

I found an old WW1 Mauser and used that for the action. I had the action cleaned up and trued up by a gunsmith, then had a Badger Barrel made, chambered in .25-06 and installed. I also used a Huber Concepts trigger, which was a simple install even for me!

I got a stock from Richard's Microfit and finished it myself. I now have a tack driver .25-06 that after I broke the barrel in, shot ten shots into one ragged hole at 100 yards.
