Hi, I'm looking for help finding a US exporter for a handful of hunting rifle actions/barreled actions. Has anyone had any recent good experience and would like to recommend someone? The last company I used is no longer in business so I'm looking for another recommendation. thanks - stu

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I managed to get in contact with most of the above, but for what I need to get done I received a pretty good deal from Griffin & Howe. We'll see how it all pans out. cheers - stu

If you don't mind me asking, what was the ballpark cost to export/import a firearm?

Hi Lockingblock The fees G&H charge are listed on their webpage - http://griffinhowe.com/import-export/ My situation is a little less straightforward as I'm exporting multiple actions, barreled actions and various parts required to be on an export licence. Talk to Laurel. She's been very helpful. So were most of the companies mentioned above. cheers - stu

Stu, I have no idea if this applies to Switzerland, but I have brought to France and then declared (no prior permit was required) a couple of sporting rifles. Declaration for the purposes of the European Firearm Passport (in France anyway) requires that you show evidence of the rifle being proofed by a Schengen country proof house. This meant taking them to Saint Etienne (but it could be done in Belgium easily as well) but it was an added bureacratic hassle and another cost. Now, it is possible that a recognized proof house exists in the USA, one recognized in Europe, and maybe the Swiss don't care. Just thought I would give you a heads-up. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Thanks Wink. I've imported "non-proofed" firearms into Switzerland before without any question. I think it's still ok to do so but will check again when it comes closer to the time. cheers - stu

In my case it wasn't really an import problem, ie with Customs. It was a problem when it came to the declaration of the firearm and it's inclusion on my Euro Firearms passport. Since the seller was not a Schengen country firearms dealer they then required the proof house certificate. Declaration/registration was conditioned upon this. But like I said, this is in France, not in Switzerland. The Euro Firearm Passport is not a requirement, but if you do cross a border in Europe it really simplifies matters. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Thankfully it must be different in Switzerland. My European Firearms Pass was issued by the Zurich Cantonal police without any question. I just had to pay a fee and complete a form. The only firearm I own which has been through a proof house is a Beretta O/U
