Very nice indeed. It's good to see that one finally made it to the land downunder. Let us know how it shoots.

Can you provide any details on the wood?

Hi Forrest, Duane supplied the wood for it & I'll have to admit I was a bit sceptical about it, but, I should've shut my mouth. Having seen it in the flesh now, It's fantastic!

I only picked it up from customs a couple of days ago & I'm now back at work (1000kms away) so it'll be a few weeks till I can get it to the range unfortunately.

That is one fine rifle you got there!
Duane...Question: The second picture shows the scope mounts being cut with the barrel installed...do you always do this, and are they finished machine this way also? Why not use a fixture? I always liked the way your rear bridge is finished on your rifles. Thanks for all the photos.

Enjoy!

Outstanding.

I love the treatment of the Talley rings and the way Duane shaped and checkered the top of the bolt stop.

Question about the scope bases.

Is the rear base screwed on or welded on?

Looks screwed on.

I might be mistaken in believing Duane welds the rear base into place.

Absolutely beautiful. I have a safari pair in 505 Gibbs and 416 Rigby on Heym Magnum Mauser actions #41 and 42 at Duane's now, but I have to wait until August for the build to start. Hey! Wait! Tomorrow is October!!! DUANE!!!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys, and my crappy photography doesn't do it anywhere near the justice it deserves!

On my rifle, it is screwed on. Seamless fitting of the bases though. tu2

Mate, I said it before but it's worth saying again... that's a beautiful bespoke rifle there.

Duane Wiebe bottom metal is going on that 404 I mentioned to you. Good to see such great work on yours.

Thanks Bondy. I have another 1935 Chilean action with Duane which was originally gonna be a 300H&H, but I've been thinking 404J more & more. After seeing this one, i think it's pretty much sealed the deal.

Make sure you post some pics of yours when Gordon starts on it mate.

I love the photos of Duane's work bench and all of the parts in process. The rifle turned out wonderfully.
I always hate to see one of those clumsily proportioned German boat anchor scopes on such a graceful finely crafted rifle.
