This is a project I've been working on in the past year. Started with a 40X barreled action with a 24" Shilen barrel and an Australian walnut blank from Roger Vardy, and now it is about ready for finishing and checkering. I did most all of the inletting and shaping by hand. The rifle weighs 8.5 lbs. as photographed.        "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." | ||

That's an awesome build and the wood's not half bad either! It really makes sense to invest in or build a custom 22lr since they're cheap, fun and deadly to shoot! Thanks for sharing your sweet project with us. Zeke | |||

Great job Evan! If you have not yet done so, everyone needs to go over to Evans web site and look at the pictures he has posted of his work. Pay particular attention to his tools and the work area he has to work in. It is very refreshing to see a young man today who has what it takes to follow his passion and do whatever it takes to get the job done with what he has available to him. So rare this day and age to see a young man put down the electronic device and pick up a tool and go to work. I predict a bright future for our friend Evan K. Best of luck to you, John | |||

The Louisville Slugger baseball bat bolt handle needs to be shortened about 3/4". Install the LaPour/Kiff 3 position safety/firing pin correctly or you'll have a dangerous condition. Stock work looks awesome. | |||

Thank you very much John and everyone for the comments. Fortunately I just finished up work on a new workbench and got a big old bench vise so the next projects should go easier. I also need to thank all of the stockmakers and gunsmiths who are willing to share their information here and elsewhere, otherwise I wouldn't be making stocks too. There are too many to name but they are all appreciated. Finally, thanks to Butch for the opportunity to have this project.
