craigsterVery, very cool. As neat as it is, it looks a bit "rough". Maybe it never made it to the finishing department? Or maybe that's as finished as they got?

SR4759It really is rough.
Apparently Hoffman was not into fine finishes on the machine or hand finishing anything.

SmallCalRan through the list of things he's selling and they have both of Mr. Petrov's books for sale. Unfortunately missed getting them from the author, but guess these will do.

J_ZolaThe modern gunsmith by Howe shows how this site is built. Not easy.

N. GarrettNice, but I still think I could get a machinist who does miniature work to make something quite similar for less than $1K.

Jerry LilesPerhaps you could have one made for less but it would be a copy and of no collector value. That's the difference.

J_ZolaI have looked at the drawings. This sight went cheap.

SR4759This sight would be easy to make and make much better than the original. By easy I mean that modern CNC equipment can make them easily in lots of 100. The drawings would need major revision to get rid of some of the mass and blockiness of the design. It would look better if more sculpted to remove some the corners and thick sections. Raymond Loewy could do wonders for its appearance. They would still be expensive side of $500 each. But they would be more custom than today's recipe customs that are usually built on a common action.
