Hey butchbuck, go to this page: http://www.varmintal.com/ahunt.htm#Paint You can paint your stock yourself to suit your needs for the area you'll be hunting. I bought the Aluma-hide paints from Brownells and will be doing a couple of mine when it warms up this year!

Cas do you build stocks? I did not see it quoted on your site. The pic's look very nice! If you do what is the going rate?

It may be. I'll have to do some checking

I have carved a few walnut stocks, but certainly not anything I would feel comfortable charging money for. If I want a nice walnut stock, a blank and a check go to Duane. Duane is talking about these: Don't worry Duane, I know I still owe you one. I finally got the wood on this side of the pond and it is probably dry enough to start turning soon.

RC, I like to stick the pin in you a little.

It's OK! Better have a sharp pin, my skin is tough! Seriously, some of the stocks I've seen painted by the owners of the gun/bow (I've camo'd my own bow) look great. You can tailor the camo to what you like and where/time of year you'll be hunting. It's personally satisfying too! Some of the guys who shoot the Sporting Rifle Match have done their target guns and they really look awsome. I really like the "prarie ghost", Mossy Oak "Brush", or Cabela's "Open Country" camos and will be doing that on a couple of my rifles. Planning on using some sage brush as a stencil. Along with the link to Varmint Al's page (and its link), I've found others on other forums who've posted instructions and have done fabulous jobs on their rifles. The Aluma-Hyde paint seems to be the stuff to use for durability and the paint color choices are great. It's epoxy based paint. I like Al's comment that if you scratch it or need to re-do it for any reason, it's a snap. The designs on the rifles pictured above are really easy and basic; you can do it yourself and get more detailed.
