Hello friends, I am new here and decided to post this after reading posts in the 'Asian hunting' section where various members have shown concerns about the dwindeling numbers of tigers in the world. Guys its not a hoax. Its tried and tested, i have tried it myself. In September, the 13 Heads of Government from countries that still have wild tigers will come together in St. Petersburg, Russia, for an historic meeting: The Tiger Summit. WWF is asking for people to sign a petition to show support for tiger conservation. It is free, no registration required. its a very trusted site and organisation (WWF). I know there is no direct way this can benefit conservation but it will show the leaders that millions of people support the cause (i hope we enroll that many) I request people who are members ontheother forums to please feel free to cut paste this thread elsewhere too. PLEASE DONT IGNORE THIS. Regards dabloobana (this is to show you guys that its not an internet forward but my post). Click here to help [QUOTE] Tigers are disappearing from the forests faster than ever before. In 2010, the Year of the Tiger, scientists estimate that there may be as few as 3,200 left in the wild. By the next Year of the Tiger in 2022, they fear there may be no tigers at all left in the wild. What can be done? Experience has shown that given the chance – enough space, prey and protection – tigers can recover. There have been great successes in tiger conservation over the years and in 2010 we have a major opportunity to secure the tiger’s future. How? In September, the 13 Heads of Government from countries that still have wild tigers will come together in St. Petersburg, Russia, for an historic meeting: The Tiger Summit. This meeting perhaps represents one of the Tiger's last and best chances of survival. A chance for leaders to agree to giving tigers increased protection and the room to recover. A chance for them to act and double the number of wild tigers by 2022, the next Year of the Tiger! What we need you to do Make the commitment to support us in getting the Heads of Government from the 13 countries that still have wild tigers to come together in September and endorse a global tiger recovery programme. One that will save the Tiger in the wild and double their numbers. The future of the tiger lies in the hands of these 13 people and their governments. In pledging your support for tigers, we hope to use that weight of public opinion to persuade these Leaders to: Agree on a programme of work to double the number of tigers in the wild Create a sustainable financing mechanism for key components of this programme. Create a new intergovernmental platform for overseeing and monitoring its implementation. WWF also stands ready to support any positive declarations made at the Tiger Summit and help turn them into real action on the ground for the last of the tigers living in the wild.
