Tapco keeps sending me catalogs full of parts for the FAL. I guess that Imbel is the hot receiver for this gun.

I know it's .308 Win. caliber, and semi auto. Mag fed.

But what else? What are they running cost wise these days? What are the "clones" and variations?

Thanks.

Of course, I could be biased... but as an owner of a FM FAL (built right here by Fabricaciones Militares) I can attest it's great quality and exceptional accuracy.

It's not that difficult to get 1.0" to 1.5" groups with custom handloads, and I'm not talking about my personal experience, I see this at the range very often. Moreover these are fired at 150meters (164yds)

I'm a new FAL owner, I love the rifle. Accurate reliable and hard hitting. I thought about getting an AR-15, I'm glad I didn't.

You can get a Imbel reciver from FAC for $199, buy 2 parts kit's from Tapco, at $89 each. That way, you have a complete set of spare parts! try to touch that with an AR-15, you would pay $125 just for a bolt.

Hummm..... How reliable is this set up? How will the parts fit? Is it worth the trouble?

This sounds like a resonable compromise to the 2k DSA rifles.... [Eek!]

Thanks.

Since it's all Imbel mil-spec parts they fit and work great. You need a reciver wrench, and some basic gunsmithing tools, headspace guages etc.
