The boys over on Castboolit forum keep arguing about this one. Let's discuss it here. What happens, according to law, when you modify your SKS? Before you start in this excludes any state laws that don't allow bayonets, high capacity magazine, removable magazines, etc. Let me give you an example of what I speak of. You have a Yugo SKS with grenade launcher and sights, plus the bayonet. Well you take off the grenade launcher and it's sights, and the bayonet. Now remember removing the grenade launcher leaves a threaded muzzle, so you cut the threads off and recrown...legal length of course. I say all that does it take the Yugo SKS out of the Curio & Relic listing and places it in the 01 FFL license classification. Some of the boys on Castboolits claim it makes the rifle illegal then. What say any of you?
