2 months after my infection (read my 1st. K31), I had another Swiss Flu bout : A prime condition, striped walnut, anno 1938, all matching numbers, K 31. It came with a 1918 Elsener Schwys Victoria bayonet and 2 ammo pouches. Bore and all metal parts look like new. The only remaining question is, will it shoot as great as nr. 1 ? This week-end, we'll know... André DRSS --------- 3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact. 5 shots are a group.

That rifle looks brand new, did the stock look that good when you bought it? I was thinking about refinishing mine (without ruining it). Mine has the walnut furniture as well, it was made in 1936, but it definatly could use some wood work. I heard that wet sanding works well. I also heard that just simply throwing it in the dishwasher works well too.

That’s a beautiful rifle brother...if it shoots half as good as it looks you got a hell of a deal.

It's the best looking K31 I've met so far. It looks brand new indeed although both steel (582xxx) and wood (V 38) are 68 years old. The stock toe is intact and not beaver chewed in the least. I suspect it has been lightly sanded at one time for the Swiss cross cartouche on the right side is a little obliterated. Whatever was done was very light and expert restoration however as I checked dimensions with my first beech stocked K 31 and they match (steel butt plate and barrel bands interchange with a good fit). Nice.....i have an 1911 and was thinking of getting a K31 and converting it to a hunting rifle. Have you removed the butt plate to see whether the national guardsman's contact details are under it? The armourers used to enter the details on a piece of paper and put it under the butt plate before issuing. Some shooters in the UK have been known to track the original owners down.

There is no converting needed to turn that rifle into a hunting rifle, perfect out of the box, maybe a scope. I just recently bought some cheap FNM 174 grn soft tip ammo, 9 bucks a pop, it would be perfect for hunting. That is what i am stocking up on, and I plan on bursting a hog with it.

It's a shooter, same as my nr. 1 ! I scoped the rifle and tweaked the handguard bands screws and voilà : 5 shots < MOA. André DRSS --------- 3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact. 5 shots are a group.

Where did you get that scope rail? There's nothing like it in the UK. How does it mount on the rifle? I wonder if it would work on my 1911?

It's a EAW (Ernst Appel Werke) steel clamp-on mount for the K31 (doesn't work for the 1911, sorry...). Cost is about 160 € but there's an American (St.-Marie) alu knock off at about half the price and reports are favourable. Have a look at SwissRifle.com. Here's a nice article on the St Marie K31 mount. Graf&Sons sells the lineup. Looks like fun... Now just need to get me a K31! St Marie Swiss K31 mount Jeff P
