I bought 2 k31 rifles a few months back one is a pretty nice one and the other was a 79$ close out, not quite as nice but still all matching parts. I kinda thought of this one as the gun I will actually shoot and leave the other nicer for collecting purposes. I couldn't be more happier with these rifles, today I took it out to see what it would do after installing the new taller front sight that i bought. And do these things shoot like a bastard, first group was about .4 at 50 yds and the next group was about .6 shooting was done with iron sights and gp11 surplus ammo. trigger was already excellant on both guns prolly around 4 pounds and feels good, these have by far the best trigger of any milsurp, the straight pull action is very unique you can even catch the brass as it comes down after being ejected. these are extremly well built guns and the best money i have ever spent for such a fine rifle, I am just saying this cause I think everyone outta have at least one of these.

Yup, I really like mine too. I didn't get near the groups that you got with the GP11 rounds. Mine were in the "minute of nazi" range (6"-10"). But, with reloads using WC 852, and IMR 4895 I've seen a vast improvement. A friend of mine has two of them and he's got loads that make it "sing". The rifle, I believe, is quite capable of delivering accuracy on par with the Swedish mausers. But, more work needs to be done (aw shucks, I guess that means I'll have to go shooting more often...darn!!). b

I looked at a K-31 at my local gunshop yesterday. I was impressed with the craftsmanship and condition on the rifle. The price is $150. Is this the going rate? I'm very interested in this gun, and think it would be a cool piece to play with at the range. I also want to handload for it. Are cases readily available and reasonably priced?
The "going rate" for a K31 is $99.00 - $150.00. If you don't have a C&R or a buddy who is a gun dealer, be prepared to pay on the higher end. The rifle is well worth it though. Brass is available (the GP11 surplus stuff is reloadable), and it uses .308" diameter bullets. Dies are available from Midway or Natchez Shooters Supply as well as other components you may need. I think you won't be unhappy with the rifle. There pretty good quality considering there age and the fact that they are surplus. b

one source to look at is big 5 sporting goods they usually have um for about 140$ and you can actually see the rifle b4 buying, 150$ is a little high but if the rifle is exceptional it may be worth it. I have a gun shop in my area that has um for about 125$ although I have a C&R licence and got my first gun a handpick very nice for $99 to my door and then I got a closeout gun for 79$ this is my shooter. C&R licences only cost 35$ and are good for 3 years, I have already paid for mine in the first 2 guns I got. I can't say enough good things about the K31 they are way good guns I would pay 250$ or more for one if that was what they cost. Most of guns are matching #'s and the bores are usually in excellant shape. GP11 is a bit expensive but if you reload, The guns shoots a standard .308 bullet so lots to choose from and you can make brass simply buy running 284 win brass through your 7.5 swiss FL die and presto 7.5 brass. Oh and did I mention the trigger all of them have really nice triggers, I shot my handpick one time and know it is capable of MOA as well, plus you are not shooting the regular bolt action that everyone else is shooting, I am going to find out if there are any milsurp shoots in my area I would like to enter my K31

Well, I bought a K-31 a few days ago. Mine was made in 1939 and is in excellent shape with a clean, sharp bore. I am going to the range this afternoon to shoot it for the first time. I have only some G11 military ammo which I understand is accurate. I found an interesting website for information for those interested in Swiss rifles: www.swissriflewebsite.com. Nothing beats this forum, but this one has some good stuff on it.

lonniemike, You are right about the website. It is a different one than the one you referred to. Try this: type it in, don't click on it in my post. For some reason, this will get you in. I tried it this morning............. Again, great site!
