i see that this ammo is selling for about $0.15 per round. that's a whole lot more than the Turk sells for (usually about $0.07 per round). is this because the Yugo is non-corrosive???

Bill, To be on the safe side, be suspicious of ALL foreign milsurp ammunition. Sometimes I think the vendors don't even know what they are selling. I have heard horror tales of ammunition sold as non-corrosive that wasn't. Lately there are ads for "mildly corrosive" ammunition. Is that anything like being a little bit pregnant? I prefer to err on the side of caution and clean my rifles with hot water every time they shoot milsurp ammo, then I repeat the process the next day to make sure I got all the salts that were lurking in cracks. After the hot water treatment I clean normally. Some shooters reccomend hot SOAPY water, the main thing is that the water be hot so it will dry itself. Hope this helps, curmudgeon

I agree with curmudgeon. Better safe than a ruined bore.

I haven't fired the Yugo stuff before - but I have heard it's just higher quality ammo. I reload most of my 8mm rounds anyway.

the Yugo surplus ammo is corrosive,no doubt. That being said,it is good ammo, although my Turk seems to like the turk ammo better.

I've used both Turk and Yugo, can't see much difference one way or the other when it comes to blasting rocks, although the Turk stuff is supposed to be hotter than other 8mm milsurp. Both are corrosive as far as I'm concerned.

The Yugo and Romanian 8mm ammo is much newer and should have a much longer shelf life.

The Yugo from the '80s is some of the most consistant surplus ammo I've ever shot. I tested about 50 rounds from a case last year and the velocity spread was about 13 fps, if I remember correctly.

All of the Turk I've ever bought had dents , cracked necks, bullets seated so far off you could see a ring in the neck etc.

Right now you can get 380 rounds of Romanian for $24.99, from AIM SURPLUS.
