http://www.honorflight.org/ I am posting an e-mail from a friend of mine whose father and father-in-law are WWII American Heroes. One was a fighter pilot ace who flew out of England. I have had the opportunity to hear first hand about his dog fights and actually see some of his gun camera film. The other saw action on a destroyer in the Pacific Some of you may have relatives that could take advantage of this worth while humanitarian service for our aging veterans. ___________________________________ As most of ya'll know Daddy and Mr. Juchheim were selected to go on the Sept 21 Honor Flight, as thanks for their service to our country as WWII veterans. Daddy has declined this trip but is still on the May 2012 flight, tentatively. He has not felt well of late, but I am hoping that the May trip will be a possibility! Max and I took Mr. J. down this weekend for the orientation and are so excited about this. I am attaching an itinerary - this will take place on Sept 21. It will be a long, hard day but a wonderful opportunity! They take a full medical team and all of the wheelchairs and equipment that could poss be needed, etc and are well prepared to make the trip as easy as poss for these aging vets. They want the vets to have some notes, letters that they can present them upon their arrival back in Gulfport the night of Sept 21. If you can, please jot down a few words on a card, no long letter is nec-- just a short thanks for serving our country, etc. They will give these to them at the "homecoming" at the end of the trip. Again, please just send a short note, if you can. I appreciate it! The address is: MS Gulf Coast Honor Flight ATTN: Max Juchheim, Jr. PO Box 1912 Gautier, MS 39553 This is short notice, I know, but they must have them by Sept 20- Thanks and love you all! E

My dad served on a tin can is the South Pacific and saw some heavy action. He died in '99, wish he could have made it. http://www.northcoasthonorflight.com/ http://www.ussevans.org/ Semper Fi

If he lived until '99, he did make it. I hope you don't think I'm being flippant. There are wrecks scattered across the South Pacific that serve as the graves for a lot of guys who never saw the end of the war.

Very true, 33 of his shipmates were killed.

If they are still alive, most do not want to be reminded of it.
