What is the approximate value of an original #5 that is well worn, some stock screws are rusty, handguard was loose, the rifle was all zip locked up so that close inspection did not happen. Looks like the barrel may have some corrosion. I'm aware that there are fake conversions, but I'm convinced that this one is genuine. The muzzle flash hider is an integral part of the barrel, faint engraving on the left side reads #5.
The asking price is $225.00

Thanks - Phil

$225 doesn't sound too out of line.

Search "jungle carbines" on www.gunbroker.com and you'll get an idea of the market.

I bought the rifle, it has a really good bore, the rifling is sharp, and the chamber looks to be trim, and should be a good shooter. However, it does have a bit of deep pitting at one spot on the left rail - how much pitting is OK before it becomes too weak, since the rail supports the lugs in the rear?

Side says No 5 Mark 1 ROF(F) Barely legible below is something something 45, so it must be dated 1945.
