Gentlemen,
I have a 1903 Greek Mannlicher-Schoenaur in 6.5x54 that has been sporterized. The action is also marked 1927 Breda. The stock has been altered by cutting down the forearm, adding a recoil pad and thinned. The barrel has been shortend and Marbles sights added, bore is very good. It has a round knob bolt handle. It actually looks pretty good. I bought it for a project that I have never started. I am sure there are some that can relate. Anyway, I was wondering what it might be worth? I am sure it would be a great basis for a custom Mannlicher. Thanks in advance.

I have one exactly as you have described except it still has the original buttplate, paid $225. After I got it, I added an ebony forend tip, cut the barrel to 22", filed down the rear sight elevator, reshaped the triggerguard, added a barrel band sling stud, replaced the front sight with an old ramp front sight, tigged the hole in the bolt knob (some guys replace with a butterknife bolt handle), slimmed the stock, refinished and reblued. Came out very nice.

Aloha Doug,
Your description mirrors my own 1903, except that the bolt handle was modified to a "butter knife" and my bore is dark.

I use it often to whack pigs up close. Love it. For value, I would buy yours for $400, and would not sell mine at all. I have an extra bolt and magazine assembly so I'm serious about using mine for a long time to come.

Question for those who are more familiar and expert on these "Breda" carbines. Were these made under license, or captured and arsenal reworked by Breda?

Thanks fla3006 and geoff. I have a butterknife handle that I filed out several years ago that I was going to put on it. It already has replacement sights on it that look pretty good. I had always wanted one because of the rotary magazine. The split receiver bridge is an obstacle for mounting a scope though. I was just wondering what I should ask for it? I know what they bring tricked out. I am afraid I just don't have the time to put into it.
