I have old rifle that I believe is a VZ-24. It has no date and no makers mark, and no indication of model. The top of the receiver ring has a crest that is best described as a winged circle with a crown on top,and inside the circle is stylized eagle figure. The left side of the receiver ring is marked cal 7.92 with what I believe are firing proofs. A five digit serial number with a prefix EA is stamped on the side of the receiver just forward of the thumb notch. Does anyone know who made this rifle or who it was produced for? радянський лайно --- йти ебать твою мать слава Україні

You have a Spanish Air Force M98 Mauser in 8mm Mauser. An example is here on this site - http://www.gunbroker.com/Aucti...m.asp?Item=122950184 I had two in the 1970's and converted them to sporters with a .308Win barrel. Big problem with one, after about 500 rounds, extraction became difficult as the action locking lug seats were soft and the bolt pounded back into them - threw the action away. No problem with the other one as it had only fired 100 rounds - sold it - after telling the new owner of the problem with the other one. The early Spanish mausers had a reputation for being "soft". Thanks for the reply Kim, that most certainly is what I have. I've had the rifle for a number of years, but I never knew what it was until your most helpful reply. I'll keep your advice regarding the possible soft receiver in mind when loading cartridges. When I first owned it I fired it a fair bit with prvi partizan ammo from Serbia, but I haven't fired it for years. Thanks again for the reply радянський лайно --- йти ебать твою мать слава Україні
