140131-N-CL550-512 GULF OF OMAN (Jan. 31, 2014) Aircraft carriers USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and FS Charles de Gaulle (R 91), guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64) and the French frigate FS Forbin (D 620) part ways following a formation sail. Harry S. Truman, part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, is conducting operations with units assigned to French Task Force 473 to enhance levels of cooperation and interoperability, enhance mutual maritime capabilities and promote long-term regional stability in the U.S. Fleet area of responsibility. The last photo reminds me of early 1942 shots of the "Lady Lex" steaming in the South Pacific with a squardon of Wildcats and a few TBMs.

According to that chart, it takes 2 French aircraft carriers to equal 1 American. There another one I don't see? Big Grin

Curious as to why Italy, Brazil, Spain have carriers. Seems to be a waste of tax money for countries that can ill afford it.
This also applies to the US, now days.
