I have been tempted to aquire loading dies for this round for awhile now. Anyone with experence
with it? I have a nice little 91 I got to make a x39 ruskie out of but after looking at the loading books I think it might be worth loading a few and try em out.
Thanks Aaron

By all means. In reality it's every bit near a 308 Winchester. The 1891 rifles are very finely crafted too. Hopefully yours has a .311 groove diameter as the factory bullets would be a very good match. Try it out before ruining a piece of history.

I've had mine for over 30 years.

With the right powders, it will outperform the .308 Winchester slightly. It has a slightly larger case capacity, and a slightly larger bullet base to apply propellant pressures against.

I have owned & shot several brand new Argentines in this chambering, and always found it an excellent cartridge.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

Yeah I was going to say that Alberta, but I didn't want to get any static about it and also didn't want people not familiar to reloading going and blowing up there rifle trying to make the 7.65 a short magnum. Now that you brought that out yes the 7.65 is slightly more powerful then the 308 as the 7.62x54 can be also. Amazing, look at how long ago those two were designed.

Thanks for the replies, not to worry Smoken the one I got had been butchered up long ago. Would love to have a unmolested one for the collection but those bring way more than I have to spend.I'm bidding on some dies on GB now and if I win I'll get started on trying this one out!
Thanks Again Aaron
