The video stands on its own merits due to it's historical value. But I also noticed some interesting details.

For instance, I noticed the Missouri had a Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk on the catapult.





They entered the war far too late to really accomplish much, and hadn't completely replaced the OS2U Kingfisher by the time the war ended. Shortly after the war they were replaced by helos.

It shouldn't surprise me that Halsey's flagship had the latest and the greatest in 1945. Still, it's not a plane you hear of much or see at airshows. It was probably the USN's best floatplane in WWII, but it's role in that conflict and postwar was practically non-existent.
