I have been asked to repair a Universal M1 carbine that has a battered barrel where the gas piston impacts the barrel. Can anyone send me a picture of an un battered barrel? I would appreciate it.

Got it resolved. I quoted a price and they decided to sell it instead. Dodged that headache!

The Universal carbine is close to the top of my "Do not work on" list. One of the first firearms I discovered the hard way that was so poorly built as to be not worth fixing most of the time, unless it's something like a loose sight or a cracked stock.
